The Younger Dryas Clovis Comet Impact Hypothesis Theory

This truly is a hypothesis on life support. The patient is in an induced coma in order to save it.

I have laid it out over at the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis Wikipedia Talk Page, and you can get all of the sorry details over there if you like. I just can’t deal with this anymore. If you want an impact big enough and in the right place to break an ice dam south of Lake Nipigon and release Glacial Lake Agassiz into the Great Lakes basin and then out through the Champlain Sea and Gulf of St. Lawrence into the North Atlantic Ocean, and if you want a volatile cometary impact on the Laurentide Ice Sheet so big that it collapses the ozone layer and toasts the deciduous tree leaves and vegetation for at least a couple of seasons, then this is most definitely your baby.

It’s just too bad it didn’t happen that way.
